When you enroll in a program at Ryker, you receive personalized attention from a knowledgeable, friendly trainer. They will help teach your dog essential socialization skills as well as show you how to reinforce these healthy behaviors at home. You’ll both be having a lot of fun while you learn! Ryker provides a range of training options to meet the needs of different dogs, from puppies to problem pooches.

Whether you want your new puppy to have the best possible start in life with reliable housetraining skills, quality manners training to ensure good behavior at home and prevent future problems or you already are experiencing a behavior problem and require serious behavior modification to remedy an aggression problem – or you fall anywhere in between – we have caring, competent staff to care for your best friend and provide a personalized program to meet your needs. Behavior Modifications
Does your dog bark, lunge, become reactive or aggressive towards other dogs or people? Does your dog become so frightened that he just freezes in place? Does your dog have separation anxiety? If your dog has these or any other major issue, our Ruff Edges program is the right fit for training.
This program is designed to give you the tools to train, control, relax and refocus your dog.

Day Training at Ryker Professional Dog Training provides all the benefits of Day Care combined with a dedicated, one-on-one 1-hour training session with one of our trainers.
Dogs must be crate trained – or at least working on it. Because we do employ reinforced down time, all dogs must be crate trained. If you need help starting the crate training process, visit our Training Tips tab to find links to help you with crate training or take a look at one of our other training programs.
Our Day Training program can focus on specific issues you are struggling with or your dog will be started on our Every Day Manners program that includes (but is not limited to!): place, down, sit, come, learning to treadmill, waiting at thresholds (including crate thresholds and doorways), and walking nicely on a leash; all while addressing problem behaviors like jumping and nipping.
Our trainers will update you at the end of the day with what you need to reinforce at home – we lay the foundation for you! We also continue to proof your dogs’ commands by working them with distractions, such as other dogs playing around them, or working them at River Park.
- Please note that we do not handle aggression cases in our day training program

Every Day Manners is the perfect course to strengthen your dog’s practical social skills as well as develop a better working relationship between yourself and your dog. Here your dog will combine the basic “Sit”, “Stay” and “Come” with duration work in order to master the art of loose-leash walking, Waiting at doorways, ignoring distractions and other essential aspects of good behavior. If your dog has reactivity or aggression issues, they need to come through our Ruff Edges program.
You have 7 weeks from the purchase of your Every Day Manners training package to complete your 5 private lessons. If you do not complete your 5 private lessons within the 7 weeks, your training package will expire and you will forfeit your remaining lessons and balance.

Now that your dog has completed basic obedience, we can work on more advanced life skills. This course will teach your dog to wait at the door with distractions, meeting and greeting people, good table manners and much more. This course can also be tailored to focus on any specific behavior issues you wish to address; such as barking, jumping or rushing the door. If your dog has reactivity or aggression issues, they need to come through our Ruff Edges program.
You have 7 weeks from the purchase of your Beyond the Basics training package to complete your 5 private lessons. If you do not complete your 5 private lessons within the 7 weeks, your training package will expire and you will forfeit your remaining lessons and balance.

Problems with dogs are usually defined as behavioral or obedience issues. Obedience issues are generally addressed in our ‘Every Day Manners’ or ‘Beyond the Basics’ programs. Behavioral issues are generally very specific. When problems have already developed and you need assistance to determine the appropriate course of action, In-home private lessons are the way to go. If your dog has reactivity or aggression issues, they need to come through our Ruff Edges program.

A Board & Train is an option for solving a variety of problems. Your dog will live with one of our trainers and receive a customized training program. Board & Train dogs live in the trainer’s home and often travel to work with them. Training can happen more quickly because the “conversation” between the dog and trainer is very clear. A Board & Train can be very helpful to jump start a dog’s training.

Puppy Socialization & Trainings
Early socialization and training is essential for puppies’ development into healthy, well-adjusted adult dogs. That’s why Ryker developed our Puppy Socialization and Training program with the input of veterinarians, leading behaviorists, professional dog breeders and experienced canine trainers. Our group classes are held in a safe, controlled environment that makes learning obedience and social skills easy and fun for your puppy.
We disinfect our facility with a veterinary grade parvocide the evening before our puppy classes, so the Preschoolers are the first ones on the floor for the day. We do recommend that you carry your Preschooler into our facility and set them down once you reach the training floor.

In this class, puppies learn to socialize off-leash with other puppies and safe adult dogs. This is critical to prevent fear-based aggression issues, inappropriate greetings (which may receive aggressive responses in other dogs), and other social problems in adulthood. Puppies also learn basic commands such as "place", "sit", "down", "come", "stay", and an introduction to leash manners. In addition, class covers housetraining, bite inhibition, and other fundamentals of puppy parenting.
You have 8 weeks from the purchase of your Puppy Preschool training package to complete your 6 classes. If you do not complete your 6 classes within the 8 weeks, your training package will expire and you will forfeit your remaining lessons and balance. NO REFUND will be issued. This class is for puppies who DO NOT have their Parvo shot series completed.

This is critical to preventing fear-based aggression issues, inappropriate greetings (which may result in aggressive responses from other dogs) and other social problems in adulthood. Puppies also learn the basic commands of “Place”, “Sit”, “Down”, “Come”, “Stay”, and how to walk comfortably and confidently on a loose leash. In addition, this class provides solutions to problem behaviors that are common during this developmental stage, such as jumping, biting, stealing food and other objects and housetraining mishaps.
You have 8 weeks from the purchase of your Puppy Kindergarten training package to complete your 6 classes. If you do not complete your 6 classes within the 8 weeks, your training package will expire and you will forfeit your remaining lessons and balance. NO REFUND will be issued.
If your puppy turns 6 months old before they finish their 6 puppy classes, they will be aged out of class and their balance will roll over into Day Care, Day Training, or one of our other training packages. NO REFUND will be issued.

If you are unable to attend our Sunday puppy classes, don’t worry, we can still help you and your puppy! Our Puppy Day Training program is a great choice to get your puppy socialization and training on a weekly basis.
Coming to our facility twice a week for 6 weeks, your puppy will learn the basics as well as have plenty of play time with dogs of all sizes and ages. Puppies attending our puppy classes that meet once a week for 6 weeks attend Day Training twice a week for 6 weeks – a total of 12 Day Training days.
This program is for puppies 6 months old or younger.

Ryker’s puppy classes are taught by an approved AKC Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program Evaluator. When your puppy completes six weeks of puppy classes before turning one year old, he or she will be eligible to enroll in AKC’s S.T.A.R. Puppy program! S.T.A.R. stands for “Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsibility,” and provides an incentive for owners to start training their dogs while they are young to make sure they learn lifelong good behaviors. To have your puppy qualify for the S.T.A.R. Puppy Program, just let your instructor know you are interested.
Ryker Dog Training Facility
Ryker offers the finest dog training facility in the Fresno region. Our well-lit, fully matted, temperature-controlled training area measures approximately thirty by forty feet – providing more than enough room for your dog to get physical while he learns. This indoor space is completely safe, secure, and a trainer is always present to supervise all activity. This allows you to work with your dog off-leash without fear that he will run away and get lost, injured or into trouble. To protect your dogs’ health, we sanitize the training area with the same types of professional-grade cleansers and disinfectants veterinarians use to prevent disease transmission in their examination rooms.
