- Over 20 years experience training dogs/ 6 years professionally.
- Trained dogs for obedience, conformation, Schutzhund, Rally, agility, herding, therapy,
hunting, Freestyle obedience and Search & Rescue.
- Titled dogs in agility, obedience, Rally and certified dogs for Search & Rescue.
- Member of Canine Performance Events, Inc. (CPE)
- Trained and certified her own Search & Rescue dog.
- Rehabilitated multiple dog aggressive dogs.
- Cross-trained and titled a single dog in agility, obedience, Rally, therapy and Search &
Rescue.

Tara's Training Philosophy
- Uses a balanced approach to training.
- Tara's training style is to communicate as clearly as possible to the dog. She
accomplishes this by showing the dog what she wants (hands on), luring with treats,
praise, and correction when needed. She believes that dogs learn best with a balance
of rewards and consequences. Tara also strives to make the methods she uses
understandable to the owner of the dog, so that they can get the same results with
practice.
- Favorite Books/Seminars that influenced Tara's Style: Fred Hassen’s “Sit Means Sit”
method, Judy Howard seminars, Suzanne Clothier, working with talented trainers in
Search and Rescue and Schutzhund (to learn how to work with the dog’s drives, and
channel that drive).

- Also attended Brenda Aloff’s seminar on clear communication with dogs recently.

I specialize in dog training and behavior. I enjoy helping people learn to communicate better
with their dogs thus enabling them to enjoy a more harmonious relationship. I realize that
every dog is unique, and strive to understand each dog's personality and needs.
