What Method of Payment Are Accepted?
Class sizes are limited to ensure that you and your dog get the attention you need. Payment is preferred at time of enrollment. Because each trainer is an independent contractor, you should contact them directly to determine payment arrangements, however most accept cash, check and credit cards through PayPal. Contact information for the trainers is located on the About Us page and on the Calendar description of the class.
Unless otherwise directed by the trainer, please bring the following:
- Proof of current vaccination
- Yummy food treats and/or favorite toy
- Poo bags to clean up after your dog
- Your regular leash & collar/harness
Feeding Dogs Before Class
Training classes can be very distracting for dogs so in order to maximize the chances that your dog will want to participate in the training process, do not feed your dog the meal that would precede your training class. If you feed twice a day and your class is in the late afternoon, don't feed the morning meal. If you must feed your dog something due to medical reasons, feed no more than half the normal meal.
Training Treats for Class
Bring an AMPLE supply of treats cut into small pieces - about the size of a pencil eraser. You will need 100-200 treats per class. Human food works best for most dogs. Some suggestions are:
Please wear comfortable clothes to class. You may need to get on the ground with your dog. Wear enclosed, non-slip footwear for safety. Most classes are held in climate controlled conditions, but prepare for some outdoor work - your trainer may have some planned.
Please be considerate to the other students in class, the dogs and the instructor. Please do not carry on your own conversation while the instructor is talking, this is distracting to everyone present.
We welcome children in our classes and encourage them to participate. We are committed to the safety of children around dogs and will help teach your children how to safely interact with dogs. Please follow these important safety considerations:
- It is distracting and virtually impossible to supervise children and get the most out of the training class. Please bring along another adult to look after the safety of the children while you concentrate on training the dog.
- Please ensure that your child does not approach other dogs in class unless requested to do so by the instructor. Some dogs are not used to children and may react adversely causing stress to both the child and the dog.
- Please ensure that your child does not wander around unattended during class. Bites happen quickly. Keep your child seated unless instructed to do otherwise.
Please arrive a few minutes early to allow your dog the opportunity to relieve himself in the designated "potty area" near the front of the building. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of in the dumpster nearby.
If your dog is sick (vomiting, coughing, diarrhea, etc.) or injured, please do not bring him to class. The safety of your dog and the other dogs in class is our biggest concern. Please contact the trainer to discuss your options. Please ensure that your dog is receiving regular monthly preventatives to control fleas & ticks and heartworms and other intestinal parasites.
When arriving for your class, please control your dog so that he cannot reach other dogs on leash. Leave ample room when moving dogs through doors and hallways.
As a rule, we do not offer make up classes. We understand that sometimes missing a class is unavoidable. We allow any student to re-take the entire class series one time for each paid class series with the same trainer. This allows you to re-fresh your memory and catch up on any missed sessions.
Course Cancellation/Postponment
Each trainer requires a minimum number of students to teach a given course. If they do not reach this minimum number of students by 48 hours before the published start date, they may postpone or cancel the class. You will be notified by the trainer if this occurs.
Instructor Illness or Emergency Class Cancellation Policy
Should an emergency or instructor illness occur on the day of your scheduled class, you will be notified by the trainer at least 1 hour prior to your class start time. PLEASE BE SURE TO PROVIDE YOUR TRAINER WITH CONTACT INFORMATION - SMS (Text) IS PREFERRED. Please check your text messages before class begins. Should a class be canceled in this fashion, the course will extend for 1 additional week beyond the end date.
