Early socialization and training is essential for the development of well-balanced adult dogs. Our program was developed with the input of veterinarians, leading behaviorists, experienced breeders as well as knowledgeable trainers. Instinct Puppy Classes will increase the confidence your puppy feels as an adult, develop a closer bond with you and foster an interest in learning new behaviors that will last a lifetime. It is a small investment now that pays off with huge dividends for your dog's future!
Puppy Preschool (8 to 16 weeks of age)
Pre-requisites: Puppies between the ages of 2 and 4 months of age and current on vaccinations as recommended by their veterinarian.
During this delicate time of your puppy's development, he/she needs to experience a world of new sights, sounds and activities. But these must be done safely to prevent injury to your puppy's developing body, mind and spirit. You must also be very careful of exposure to potential sources of infectious diseases such as parvo which can be deadly to your new family member.
We take every precaution to keep your puppy safe! Developed with veterinary oversight, we have created a protocol to sanitize the puppy training area with the same types of cleaners and disinfectants used by veterinarians themselves to prevent disease transmission. Our experienced trainer has raised dozens of puppies, whelped litters and studied early cognitive development of puppies. You can count on our recommendations and instruction to be the best possible, real-world solution to raising a healthy, happy, well-balanced adult dog.
In this class your puppy will learn how to socialize off-leash with other puppies as well as safe, adult dogs. This is an essential skill for your pups future development to prevent fear-based aggression issues, inappropriate greetings which may result in aggressive responses from other dogs, etc. Your puppy will also be exposed to a variety of environmental experiences to challenge his/her mind and build confidence. Of course your puppy will also learn the basics commands including SIT, DOWN, COME and STAY. We will also cover a wide variety of topics including housetraining, bite inhibition, grooming, dietary concerns, and many other issues that concern today's pet parent.
Puppy Preschool is a continuous enrollment class, meaning you may start at any time! Puppy Preschool classes should be completed before the puppy reaches 4 months of age (exceptions may be made for very small breed puppies). You may roll over any unused class sessions into the next class level - Puppy Kindergarten!

Pre-requisites: Puppies between 4 and 6 months old. Puppies must have first adult rabies vaccination to participate in this class.
Socialization experiences are vital to puppies in this age group. Puppies continuously learn from their environment and we provide you with skills you need to know to determine if your puppy is having a good or bad experience with that environment. Learn to read your puppy's body language, challenge him/her to learn without frightening them and most of all build the trust bond that lasts a lifetime!
Your puppy will receive socialization experiences in this class, both on and off-leash, from other puppies, humans and safe, adult dogs. Your puppy will learn his basic commands: SIT, DOWN, STAY and COME as well how to walk comfortably and confidently on a loose leash. Additionally, we will address common problems that occur during this age period including jumping, biting, stealing objects, housetraining excursions, etc. We will also discuss safety issues that are of importance to your developing bundle of curiosity and mischief!
Puppy Kindergarten is a continuous enrollment class - you may start at any time!

Puppy Kindergarten (4 to 6 months)
Surviving Adolescence/Rude Dog Class
Pre-requisite: Puppies 6 months through adult. For those who just can't take it anymore!
Yes - dogs go through puberty. They become easily distracted, fail to remember even the most basic commands, learn new destructive behaviors and generally drive families crazy. It is time to take training just a little bit more seriously. We have a class for that!
We cover issues common to this age range such as pulling on the leash, jumping up, reinforcing the COME command, creating healthy household rules, preventing destructive behaviors, stealing food and so much more. If you are living with an adolescent dog and need some support, this is the place for you!
Surviving Adolescence/Rude Dog Class is a traditional 6 week class. Look for the start date of the next session!

Because your puppy classes will have been taught by an approved AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, upon completion of at least 6 weeks of our puppy classes before your puppy turns 1 year old, your puppy is eligible for the AKC S.T.A.R.
